Well, determined that one of the two packages I installed back on April 17th rejected the queen.  the other two hives are doing fine.  I have created a blog to keep track of my beekeeping experience. Blog: "Another Beginner Beekeeper" http://anotherbeginningbeekeeper.blogspot.com/

Quick update here.  I went to check on my hives last night since I haven't been there in 3 days, it has been 4 days since I pulled the cork out of the queen cages. I wanted to check and make sure that the queens have been released but it was REALLY windy out yesterday so I planned to just fill up the feeders to make sure they were getting enough food to build all the new comb they need.  Usually when I am just feeding I don't put on any protective clothing or use smoke since they have always been really calm and mellow. NOT yesterday, the instant I removed the first feeder one of the guard bees went right to my wrist and stung me on contact

OK, so my last journal got cut right in the middle of my story about going to capture my first swarm.  I will finish it some other time, but the short version is, I have never been around "live" bees in terms of handling them.  There wasn't any hands on stuff in our bee class so I wasn't sure what to expect.  But as of today this swarm I cut is doing great, they are building new comb in their hive like crazy.  Since we haven't hit our nectar flow yet here I am having to feed them 1/2 gallon of sugar water every 36 hours. Now I have been working every night, long into the night getting all my hive equipment ready for Saturday.  The two packag
